Can we make a model of an Archipelago to show our understanding of what it is?
In our science class, we had to create a 3D model of a natural landform, and we made an archipelago. We used a 3D pen to make the land and ocean, and then glued it onto a piece of cardboard. Our archipelago has sand and a reef like real ones!
We put the plastic onto the pen, waited for it to heat up, then we drew out a simple sketch of an archipelago. After that, we used our pen to trace the parts of our sketch. Then, we added any other necessary parts like an extra layer, and after that we peeled the model off of the paper and glued it to a piece of cardboard.
After we created our model, our understanding of archipelagos increased. We used data from a variety of different sources, and they helped by giving us a fundamental understanding about archipelagos.
Our results show what an archipelago is in a physical form that you can hold. We learned more about what they are and how they are formed by making it, and by looking at our project you can understand and see what they are.
If we were to make it better, we would make it so that there are underwater volcanoes below the archipelago. This helps to show how they are formed not only what they are, so the person looking at it can understand better.
The data that helped us to create this model is National Ocean Service to tell us what an archipelago is, and study.com to help us understand how they are formed. C helped us.
I like the use of the 3D pen to create your Archipelago. You can clearly see the parts to this landform. I am very interested in your next steps and the idea of showing the undersea volcanos. It is a great idea! This would be a great resource for students to learn more about archipelagos. How could you expose more students to this model?
