PROJECT SUMMARY
What architectural elements made the churches of the reductions special and functional?How do you represent these values in a model that integrates designs, structure and symbolism?
WHY?
WHY?
Inspired by the study trip, we decided to build a reinterpreted model of the church. We wanted to capture the spiritual power, structural symmetry, and centrality of the church to the Jesuit community. We named it "La iglesia de la luz Divina" as a tribute to the connection between light, faith, and architecture.
HOW?
HOW?
We used materials such as cardboard, sticks, LED lights, paint, and natural elements.
We designed the facade with a brick pattern, a large central door, and embossed details.
Inside, we recreated pews, an altar, a simulated tile floor, and a ceiling illuminated with LED strings to represent the presence of the sacred.
We took care with proportion, interior volume, and decorative details that convey the atmosphere of a temple.

We learned that religious structures serve not only a practical function but also a symbolic one. We discovered how the combination of design, light, form, and materials can generate a spiritual experience. We also practiced building, planning, and collaboration skills.

The use of materials influences the stability, strength, and type of structure of the structure. When working on the physical model, we learned to measure and structure it properly so that it matches our digital design in Minecraft.

Wow! What an interesting topic! Your team really put in the effort on this project. Your Minecraft model of the church was a fun way to experience it as well as your two videos. Your team did a good job of collaborating and producing a great model of the church as well. I like your next step idea that would add sound or motion sensors. Maybe it would activate music or a sermon from that time period? Excellent job!
